7th grade Humanities has just finished reading Animal Farm as a whole class. From the novel, students learned how Animal Farm works as both a fable and an allegory; identified class structures, equality and inequality, power, control and corruption; identified, defined, and explained the forms of propaganda that appear in the novel. From there, students worked in groups to come up with evidence why the character they were given was a fault for the downfall of Animalism. After completing this activity, the students did a gallery walk to see what their classmates came up with and added evidence. Students then picked a character to write an essay on who was at fault.
