We are using units of measurement to introduce us to the powers of ten which is one of our main focuses in fifth grade. If a student is our single unit of measure what does 1/10 look like? How about 100? We worked in groups to find objects that we could use to visualize our systems, decided how we could share them and then created a way to display them using technology and something concrete to post in the classroom.
