After spending the last few weeks reading The US Constitution, A Graphic Adaptation, by Jonathan Hennessey, students in 7th grade got to work looking into some current challenges and debates surrounding rights that are enshrined in the Constitution. They brainstormed questions in our Constitution Cafe, using the question formulation technique. Cafe patrons traveled from table to table adding thoughts and questions (right on the tablecloths!) to the thinking of their classmates. Finally, each student chose a specific issue which they will research. Ultimately, students will be writing their second persuasive essay of the year, using evidence that they find in their articles to support their claims.
