The lower school is beginning a series of winter-olympic themed design challenges this week. Some will be individual events. Some will be team events. All will involved the engineering design process.
This week students competed in their first event, ski jumping. They all received "little people", and had to decorate the athlete's uniform and design skis that would effectively carry the skier down the jump and soar as far as possible through the air.
They loved competing against themselves to continue to improve their jump distance. Each class could have spent all day on this challenge, though time constraints bolster creativity and rapid prototyping, and the results were amazing!
