I am pleased to be teaching two middle school electives in the first quarter. Students in the Improv class are letting their creative sides show through a variety of games and exercises. We are learning how to take risks, say “Yes”, and let ourselves be silly! The combination of hard work and laughter make Improv a highlight of every week. We plan on performing something at the Fall Talent Show on Friday, November 2nd!
Students in the Garageband elective also show their creativity by mixing sounds, experimenting with different beats, and making their own music. They are quick learners and have already created some pretty great music so far. Last week students shared some of their compositions with each other, and by the end of the first quarter each student will have a complete song to share with their friends and family!
Our Friday Morning Meeting Music Moments (say that 5 times fast!) have been awesome, with Many Memorable Middle-school Musicians! Angus played a fiddle tune, Tessa and Sammy shared a Garageband song, June, Sophie and Juliet did a math rap, and this Friday Grace will be performing a Beyoncé song. We have a truly talented group of students at The Lyme School!
