7th graders have been studying the Middle East, or the crossroads of the world, and learning about its rich history, geography and culture. Students now understand that middle-eastern countries are united by the religion Islam, and they appreciate how this faith transcends every aspect of life in this region of our planet.
The foundation of Islam, its rapid spread to the various empires that espoused it, and the Golden Age of Muslim civilization led to many advancements that are still viable today. Through an in-depth study of Islam and its impact on the Middle East both historically and geographically, students gained an understanding of this fascinating faith and are now cognizant of its significance to this region, as well as the entire world.
