The 7th grade recently finished a short story unit. They read six different short stories and found the characters, plot, conflict, setting, and theme in each. Using these story elements, they made a concept map of their six stories and found connections using any of the five elements that make up a story. Students not only made literal connections, but abstract ones as well. The students finished the unit by writing an analysis of the similarities and differences between the stories.
